Clean Energy Community
Both the Village of Clinton and the Town of Kirkland had previously worked with members of the current CSC task force to receive NYSERDA’s Clean Energy Community designation. Clinton finished the process in the spring of 2019 (here is the press release listing the four specific actions taken by the Village and the actual Village resolution). Kirkland has now also completed the process and has been named a Clean Energy Community as of January 2021.
Through this program, both governments are already eligible for unrestricted “Designation Grants” of $5,000. Further “Point-Based Grants” may be available, with the potential amount depending on how many points have been accumulated in the NYSERDA scorecard. Points can be found at this website, where you will need to search for “Town of Kirkland” or “Village of Clinton.” As of February 2021, both have achieved a level of 1,000 points. A minimum of 3,000 points is needed to be eligible for the next higher level of grants, starting at $10,000.
